Here are some key points about Nigerian cybersecurity law that you should know:1️⃣ The Nigerian Cybercrime Act of 2015: This act criminalizes a range of cyber activities, including cyberstalking, cyberbullying, online impersonation, and the unauthorized access or interception of computer systems. It also established the Nigerian Cybercrime Working Group, which is responsible for coordinating efforts to combat cybercrime in the country.2️⃣ The Data Protection Regulation of 2019: This regulation, which was issued by the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), establishes rules for the collection, use, and protection of personal data in Nigeria. It requires organizations to obtain consent from individuals before collecting their personal data and to take steps to protect that data from unauthorized access or disclosure.3️⃣ The National Cybersecurity Policy and Strategy of 2020: This policy, which was also issued by NITDA, outlines the government's approach to cybersecurity and establishes a framework for protecting critical infrastructure and sensitive information from cyber threats. It also sets out the roles and responsibilities of various stakeholders in maintaining cybersecurity in Nigeria.4️⃣ The Electronic Transactions Act of 2004: This act established the legal framework for the use of electronic transactions in Nigeria and provided for the recognition and admissibility of electronic records in legal proceedings. It also established the Nigerian Electronic Fraud Forum, which is responsible for coordinating efforts to combat electronic fraud in the country.Nigerian cybersecurity regime aims to protect individuals and organizations from cyber threats and to ensure the integrity and security of online systems and data.
